Lake Louise Christian Community, Camp & Retreat Center

Memorial Garden

Envisioning a final resting place for those who love the lake and have given their love and energies to this community and ministry, the Trustees of the Lake Louise Christian Community established a Memorial Garden around Strong Chapel in 1982.  In 2002 a committee was elected to further develop and beautify the Memorial Garden.  Built by the loving hands of youth and adults, stones, a rail fence, and plants and flowers of various kinds have been added and maintained by volunteers.

The old lilac bush east of the Chapel predates the establishment of the community and the arrival of the first campers.  Field stones around the lilac bush and garden recall stone walls found near old churches throughout the state.

The Memorial Garden is a sacred place where the ashes of family and friends are buried.  The person’s name may be placed on a bronze plate affixed to the plaque inside Strong Chapel.

Strong Chapel and the Memorial Garden provide opportunities for campers, cottagers, retreaters and friends to meditate and pray, and to acknowledge the contributions of those who are inhumed here.  Weddings, baptisms and memorial services may also be held on-site.

Persons visiting the Memorial Garden must check in at the Lake Louise Office.  Turn right upon entering the camp and retreat grounds and follow the sign to the first building on the right.

Arrangements for inhumation may be made by contacting the Executive Director of the Lake Louise Christian Community.  Information on procedures and fees are available at the office and on the website.
